Braun Memorial Hospital is
a hospital in the Finschhafen District, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea.
Existing in its contemporary
setting since 1974 Braun Memorial Hospital is one of the oldest rural
based hospitals under the umbrella of Lutheran Health Service (LHS) a divison of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea (ELC-PNG).
Patients of Braun Memorial Hospital are treated on seven Wards with
around 120 beds. Roughly 13,500 have been treated in 2010. The hospital’s medical director is Dr. Terry
Francis from Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province.
Braun Memorial Hospital is
the only of its kind on the Huon Peninsula. Due to this fact it is not only
serving the people of the Finschhafen District, in which it is located, but
also patients from Tewae-Siassi and
Kabum District. The FISKA (FInschhafentewae-SiassiKAbum)
area approximately has 120,000 inhabitants.
